Volunteers Enhance Palmia Park

Palmia Park received a double dose of volunteer time  during the Sunday Series on Feb. 24, hosted by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Volunteer Management Unit. The program welcomed the Joint Youth Ministry Group from Almaden Hills and the Cambrian Park and Willow Glen United Methodist churches. Both groups worked on filling up the playground with 100 yards of fibar, a specially cut cedar product. The specialized wood chips keep the playground floor safe and clean. The groups also raked leaves and pulled weeds. The hours donated by the 92 volunteers are valued at $6,700. For more information, contact Justin Long, PRNS Deputy Director, at 408-793-5579.
